Working in a startup is one of the most exciting experiences imaginable. Overnight, you get to witness people with a great idea transform it into a (hopefully) profitable business.
At least that has been my experience working in the technology sector. But when you're bringing something completely new to the market, it's also a common experience to get blindsided by important concerns you might not have considered. Who will buy this product that's never been on the market before? How do we deal with unhappy customers? And how do you juggle it all?
What's great about being a part of the tech community is that I get exposed to a lot of smart people with great ideas on performing at a peak level and getting stuff done. A colleague first introduced me to the "Lean Startup" idea, along with the Kanban methodology for creating "continuous improvement" in long projects. I've put together a number of ideas in this article on how to do more good work more efficiently -- and hopefully have a little bit of time to relax!
Of course, I also keep lots of to-lists. I'd love to hear some of your ideas on getting stuff done.
